Perhaps the most significant release by Sony Alpha in 2019 was not a camera or lens, but its Real-time Tracking Autofocus function. First introduced with the Alpha 6400 and then added to the Alpha 9 via a firmware upgrade, it has since appeared on every subsequent camera including the Alpha 6600, Alpha 6100, Alpha 7R IV, and the powerful-but-compact RX100 VII cameras. The camera settings first need to be optimised to make best use of this reliable way to track your subject to easily achieve reliable focus.
