Learn to capture, process and print in the stunning Mackenzie Region.

About the event

Join Hakan and Rachael on a four day, three night trip around Mount Cook and the Mackenzie Region shooting landscapes and astroscapes. This workshop will cover all that's required to capture and process beautiful landscape images.

Printing your own work can be useful during the image creation/editing process as well as a means of delivering a completed artwork. Printing for yourself gives you complete control of the finished image, from the immense range of media options, to the thrill of watching the image come to life as a ‘real’ object. We'll explore all that's invlolved to take your images from screen to print. And you'll come away with two large A3 sized fine art prints of your very own!

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from two photographers with very different styles. The wealth of knowledge on hand will make for an unmatched photographic experience.

We will depart from Christchurch Airport at 12pm on Friday and head to our accommodation in Twizel (for more information on the accommodation please see the FAQ below). For sunset we will head to a scenic Mt. Cook lookout.

Sunrise will be at Lake Ohao or Lake Ruataniwha. We will go through processing during the day and for sunset we will walk to Hooker Lake with spectacular views of Mt. Cook.

We'll start Sunday with a sunrise from Tasman Lake. During the day we will go over editing to print. File preparation, paper selection, soft proofing, gamut, reading icc profiles and finally we will print two of our images (each) from the weekend to take home as stunning A3 artworks.

After sunrise on Monday morning we will head back to Christchurch Airport in time for your afternoon/evening flight.

All nights, if clear will see us shooting astro too! Locations are flexible and may be changed to suit the weather conditions.

Accommodation is included. Travel throughout each day will be provided so there's no need to arrange transportation (other than getting to Christchurch Airport). Note: if you'd prefer to make your own way to and from Twizel that is perfectly fine.

Hakan was an amazing instructor. His ability to impart knowledge was brilliant. I learned more with Hakan in two days than in 20 years of taking photos. ”
