Practice your portrait skills with models in an indoor setting

About the event

In this practical session, you will have the opportunity to build your confidence in photographing people in a controlled setting. You will photograph models and work on your camera and composition skills using indoor natural light. You will receive guidance and advice from professional portrait photographer Charlotte E. Johnson. You can meet a makeup artist and get to try posing models and setting up portraits yourself, with assistance where wanted. With just 6 participants and 2-3 models, you will have plenty of time to take photos and receive 1:1 feedback should you wish.

What to bring

  • Camera (any camera, even your mobile phone)
  • Lens (any lens will do, but a lens between 35 - 135mm will be best suited)

You must have your own camera to attend this event. You can take photos on whatever device you like (even a mobile phone).
Feel free to bring a packed lunch to enjoy on the grounds after the event is finished. There are tea and coffee making facilities inside the venue but not all dietary needs are catered for.
There is free parking on site
This event will be followed by a short zoom workshop where Charlotte will edit and retouch an image live in Photoshop/Camera Raw, and answer any questions you may have. Please note that the zoom event is not a Photoshop tutorial.
This event requires 6 attendees to go ahead. The cut off date for bookings is Wednesday June 28th at 10pm.
Suitable for ages 12+, accompanied by an adult. The Waitakere Arts community building is wheelchair accessible, though toilets are down a short stairway.
Henderson train station is approximately 7 minutes flat walk from the venue
This event is not weather-dependent and will only be cancelled in the event of emergency. Bookings are not refundable unless the event is cancelled.
Mask use is at the discretion of attendees.
