A live sunset couples shoot packed with tips and tricks

About the event

Join me for an evening at Piha for a live couples shoot, where we'll cover everything from gear selection, to interacting with couples, to looking for light, and working with whatever Mother Nature throws your way. We'll start with a chat about your gear, camera settings, and strategies I use to make the technical aspect of the shoot easy, so you can focus on composition and engaging with your couple.

Once we're all set, the couple will join us for a walk around the beach, where we'll go on a wee adventure and make some beautiful images - whatever the weather, whatever the light. 

Along the way, we'll stop off at a few different locations. I'll break down why I've decided to stop and shoot, and we'll have free, unstructured Q&A as we go.

For both sessions, we'll use the following days as back-up if we get rained out.

  • Gear setup for outdoor portraiture
  • Interacting with couples to create natural images that you and your clients will love
  • Building an eye for composition
  • Finding good light and using it well

What to bring

  • Cameras, lenses 
  • Suitable footwear for a walk on the beach (optional, barefooted is sweet) 
  • Dress for the weather
