About the event
Founded in 1954 in the Dandenong Ranges, the iconic Tesselaar Tulip Festival showcases nearly one million blooming tulips across 130+ vibrant varieties.
Held during the opening Dutch Weekend, the farm comes alive with authentic Dutch culture—featuring historic windmills, giant wooden clogs, folk dancers in traditional dress, live music, and classic street treats like poffertjes and stroopwafels.
In this workshop, we will photograph a model styled as a Tulip Fairy in an ethereal gown with floral headpieces among the endless blooms. You will practice framing through foreground petals for creamy bokeh, balancing natural spring daylight for clean skin tones, and using lens compression to isolate your subject from festival crowds.
Imagine photographing a professional model transformed into an ethereal "Tulip Fairy"—adorned in couture pastel gowns, flowing translucent silks, and handcrafted floral headpieces that blend seamlessly with the vibrant petals. In this masterclass, you won’t just take snapshots; you will create portfolio-defining, magazine-worthy editorial portraits.
We will demystify shooting in bright festival environments, guiding you step-by-step through creating painterly foreground bokeh, sculpting soft skin tones under natural sunlight, and achieving dreamlike subject isolation using Sony's flagship G Master prime lenses. Every participant is guaranteed dedicated, unobstructed 1-on-1 shooting rotations with the model to craft their own distinctive vision.
