About the competition
Get sideline with the Blues! We want to offer the opportunity for FOUR photography enthusiasts to get sideline and shoot with Sony at the Blues vs Highlanders. The sky is the limit with this competition, there’s no requirements for gear you shoot on, we just want to see your sports related work.
A pre-shoot briefing and tips and tricks on live sports photography shooting will be hosted by John Cowpland.
You can enter a photograph or more of any sports related image, on any device you like (i.e you can use your phone). Regardless of your skill level, this competition is for everyone. The opportunity to win has never been more accessible.

Terms and Conditions
Instructions on how to enter and the prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
Who can submit
- Entrants must be over the age of 15 as of the date of submission. Any entrant who is under the age of 18, as of the date of submission, must obtain the prior permission of their legal parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. The parent or guardian may be called to verify their consent and may be required to sign a release at the discretion of the Promoter. The release may also require the entrant's parent or guardian to accept responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the entrant. The release must be completed with the full name, address and telephone number of the entrant's parent or guardian. Failure to provide such proof, particulars or releases will immediately invalidate the entrant's entitlement to any prize, subject to State and Territory legislation.
- This Promotion is open to New Zealand residents only.
- Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, defacto spouse, child or stepchild (whether natural or by adoption), parent, stepparent, grandparent, step grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister or 1st cousin. Contractors of the Promoter in connection to digital imaging are ineligible to enter.

- There are four (4) prizes available for this Promotion.
- Each randomly drawn winner will win (Prize):
- 1 x ticket to attend a sideline shoot with the Promoter at the Blues v Highlanders Super Rugby Match on Friday 2 June 2023, commencing at 5.00 pm, at Eden Park (Event); and
- 1 x ticket to attend the pre-shoot sports photography briefing and talk hosted by the Promoter with John Cowpland at 4.00 pm.
- Winners will be notified by 24 May via email, at the email address that the winners use to sign up to Sony Scene.
- Winners who cannot be contacted by 26 May will be deemed invalid and another winner will be selected in their place for their Prize.
- Any changes to the pre-shoot and/or sideline shoot time will be advised to winners before the commencement of the Event.
- Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the winner and the Promoter is not responsible for any costs involved in getting to or from the Event.
- Winners will have the option of loaning a Sony camera and associated equipment from the Promoter for the purposes of the photo shoot if they wish. If winners choose this option they will be responsible for taking proper care of the Sony camera and equipment.
- Winners will be required to comply with any safety or operational requirements for attending the Event at Eden Park, and must comply with all reasonable directions of the Promoter at the Event.
- The Prize is not transferable and is only available to each drawn winner.
- Cash cannot be awarded in lieu of a Prize.
Entry method and conditions of entry
- To enter, individuals must:
- sign up to Sony Scene (https://scene.sonyanz.com/)
- upload a photo taken on any camera (including smartphone), of any sports related scene / subject (files must be in JPEG format and under 5MB in size) to Auckland Blues Sports Photography Shoot Promotion located at: (https://scene.sonyanz.com/competitions/auckland-blues-sports-photography-shoot-promotion), completing the Online Entry Form; and
- own the rights to any images they submit, and have obtained all model releases for identifiable persons featured in any images. If it is found that the entrant has submitted an image they do not own the rights to (and/or do not have the required permissions and/or releases for), their entry will be deemed invalid. Sony will not be liable for any legal action taken against such entrants by the rightful owner of the image (and/or persons who claim that the required permission was not given and/or release obtained).
- There is no limit to the number of entries to this Promotion.
- At the time the Online Entry Form is submitted, individuals will receive an email from the Promoter (to the email address used for Sony Scene account creation), to confirm that their submission has been successful.
Any entrants that are unable to complete the entry process online can contact the Promoter by sending an email to digitalimaging.SANZ@sony.com to arrange an alternative method of entry submission.
- The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and individuals (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms and Conditions, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the Promotion. Entries via computer generation and use "scripting" is not permitted and will not be accepted.
- The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry which (i) contains inappropriate, obscene or pornographic material; (ii) contains threatening or defamatory statements about any person, company, organisation or entity; (iii) which violate any applicable laws and regulations or (iv) which is likely in the Promoter’s opinion to bring the Promoter and/or the Promotion into disrepute.
- By entering this Promotion, you give the Promoter a worldwide, non-exclusive and royalty free licence to use the submitted images for the purposes of promoting future competitions and other marketing activity of the Promoter for a period of up to 18 months. Usage of entrants and winners’ images may be used for (but not limited to) online, promotional materials, in-store point of sale materials, news media and social media.
- In accepting a Prize and participating at the Event, the winners agree to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the Promotion, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The winners agree to granting the Promoter a worldwide, perpetual, and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide, including online social networking sites, and the winners (and their companions) will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
General
- The Promoter’s decisions in relation to the Promotion are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The Promoter reserves its legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender.
- If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
- If this Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to disqualify any entrant, modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion, as appropriate.
- Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees set out in the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 in New Zealand (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.
- Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence) including, but not limited to, in relation to any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any tax liability incurred by a entrant; or (e) taking/use of a Prize.
- By submitting an entry into this draw, entrants consent to receive promotional and other marketing messages from the Promoter (including messages sent electronically for an unlimited period of time). Entrants will be able to opt-out at any time by following the instructions included in each message sent by the Promoter.
- The name of winners may be used for promotional purposes by the Promoter, unless a winner otherwise notifies the Promoter at the time of accepting their prize. Entrants consent to the Promoter using their personal information provided in connection with this Promotion for the purposes of facilitating the conduct of the Promotion and awarding any prizes and any applicable statutory authorities and to conduct direct marketing activities. - Winners of a Prize are advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winnings and they should seek independent financial advice prior to acceptance of that prize.
