About the competition

Go big or go home! 😉 We want to kick the year off with a bang and see your best shots! The sky is the limit with this competition, there’s no theme, no requirements for gear you’re shooting on – we just want to see your best work.

The only catch? You only have one week to submit a photo to win big.

The best deserves the best; so we’ve got an Alpha 7 IV + 16-35mm GM lens up for grabs as our major prize, plus 10x $100 AUD Sony Scene vouchers for our runners up.

Just a reminder, you can enter a photograph of anything you like (i.e. it's an open category) on any device you like (i.e. you can use your phone). Regardless of your skill level, this competition is for every photographer! The power to win has never been more accessible.

So start snapping. You’ve got one week to submit your best photo for your chance to win.

1 – Who can submit, open, close, and draw dates and times Age restriction: Entrants must be over the age of 15 as of the date of submission. Any entrant who is under the age of 18, as of the date of entry, must obtain the prior permission of their legal parent or guardian over the age of 18 to enter. The parent or guardian may be called to verify their consent and may be required to sign a release at the discretion of the Promoter. The release may also require the entrant's parent or guardian to accept responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the entrant. The release must be completed with the full name, address and telephone number of the entrant's parent or guardian. Failure to provide such proof, particulars or releases will immediately invalidate the entrant's entitlement to any prize, subject to State and Territory legislation.

This competition is open to Australian & New Zealand residents only.
Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
Contractors of the Promoter in connection to digital imaging are ineligible to enter.

2- Entry method and conditions of entry To enter, individuals must:
a. Upload a photo taken on any camera (including smartphone), of any genre / subject (Maximum 1 submission per person, files must be in JPEG format and under 5MB in size) to Sony Scene’s Photography Competition competition page.
b. Photo submissions can be of any genre, there is no theme to this competition.  
c. Own the rights to any images they submit, and have obtained all model releases for identifiable persons featured in any images. If it is found that the entrant has submitted any image they do not own the rights to, their entry will be deemed invalid. Sony will not be liable for any legal action taken against such entrants by the rightful owner of the image.
 
By entering this promotion you give Sony permission to use the submitted images for the purposes of promoting future competitions for a period of up to 18 months. Usage of finalists’ and winners’ images may be used for (but not limited to) online, promotional materials, in-store point of sale materials, news media and social media.
 
Individuals whose submissions reach the final round of judging may be asked to provide a High Resolution file of their entry. Images under 12 megapixels, or less than 4000px on longest side, may not be accepted as high resolution. If the individual is unable to provide a High Resolution photo, their entry will be deemed invalid.
 
Entrants are required to sign up to Sony Scene in order to be eligible for this competition.
 
At the time the Online Entry Form is submitted, individuals will receive an email from the Promoter (to the email address used for Sony Scene account creation), to confirm that their submission has been successful.
Any entrants that are unable to complete the entry process online can contact the Promoter by sending an email to digitalimaging.SANZ@sony.com to arrange an alternative method of entry submission.
 
The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and individuals (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms and Conditions, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the Promotion.
 
The Promoter’s decisions in relation to the Promotion (including but not limited to selection of finalists and prize winners) are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
 
Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The Promoter reserves its legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender.
 
If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
 
If this Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to disqualify any entrant, modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion, as appropriate.
 
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees set out in the Australian Consumer Law of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia or, where relevant, the statutory consumer guarantees set out in the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 in New Zealand (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.

By submitting an entry into this draw, entrants consent to receive promotional and other marketing messages from the Promoter (including messages sent electronically for an unlimited period of time). Entrants will be able to opt-out at any time by following the instructions included in each message sent by the Promoter.

4- Prize conditions The prize must be used in full by expiry date indicated and in accordance with terms of use. In the event a winner does not take the prize by the time stipulated, then the entire prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prize.

5 – number of winners and prizes and value There will be eleven (11) prizes available for this draw, including one (1) major prize, and ten (10) minor prizes.

The major prize will consist of:
One (1) Alpha 7 IV (valued at SRP $4,299 AUD)
One (1) SEL1635GM (valued at SRP $3,499 AUD)

The total major prize pool is valued at SRP $7,798 AUD.

The minor prize will consist of
One (1) $100 AUD voucher for Sony Scene to be used on any Sony Scene event in Australia & New Zealand.

Vouchers are valid for one year from date of issue.  

The total minor prize pool is valued at SRP $1,000 AUD.

The total prize pool is valued at SRP $8,798 AUD.

Should the product not be available, the prize will be forfeited.
 



Privacy Collection Statement
  1. The name of winners may be used for promotional purposes by the Promoter, unless a winner otherwise notifies the Promoter at the time of accepting their prize. Entrants consent to the Promoter using their personal information provided in connection with this Competition for the purposes of facilitating the conduct of the Competition and awarding any prizes and any applicable statutory authorities and to conduct direct marketing activities. Copyright, Statutory guarantees, Waiver and liability
  1. In participating in the prizes, the winners agree to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the Competition, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The winners (and their companions) agree to granting the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide, including online social networking sites, and the winners (and their companions) will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
  2. Prize-winners are advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winnings and they should seek independent financial advice prior to acceptance of that prize.
  3. The Promoter (subject to State and Territory legislation) reserves the right to amend, cancel or suspend this Competition if an event beyond the control of the Promoter corrupts or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Competition. The Promoter will disqualify any individual who has tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of this Competition. In particular, entries via the Internet, computer generation and use "scripting" is not permitted and will not be accepted.
  4. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website is the entrant's responsibility and is dependent on the Internet service provider used.
  5. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limit, exclude or modify or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the State and Territories of Australia (Non-Excludable Guarantees).

Any change in value of the prize occurring between the publishing date and date the prize is claimed is not the responsibility of the Promoter.
