About the event
Venture where less than 0.001% of the human population will ever go – crossing the legendary 66º southern latitude!
This once-in-a-lifetime journey will take a small group of select travellers to one of the of the most intriguing, captivating and remote locations on earth. A land where untouched landscapes take your breath away and immense wildlife populations surround you on every landing.
This expedition is for those who truly wish to get off the beaten path and travel to a place that was once only accessible to history’s most intrepid explorers.
Our 14-day tour of the Antarctic Peninsula will take you deep into the Southern Ocean to step foot on the least-visited continent on the planet, come face to face with thousands of penguins, have close encounters with humpback whales and gaze into a polar vastness that will leave you breathless.
As an added bonus, the ship we will be sailing on has not one but two Airbus H145 helicopters onboard and all of our guests will be offered a magnificent opportunity to see Antarctica from the air on an included scenic flight!
This unique adventure is longer than the classic Antarctic Peninsula itinerary, offering a full 7 days on the continent with the goal to navigate our luxury, ice-strengthened expedition ship south beneath the Antarctic Circle.
This particular journey is only offered by a handful of operators at very specific times of the year, and we have partnered with the world’s top polar expedition company to bring 20 guests on this extraordinary adventure at a very special price.
We’ll start our adventure together in Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan capital of Argentina, before jumping on an exclusive charter flight to Ushuaia at the bottom tip of the South American continent.
From there we’ll board our brand new, luxury ice-strengthened expedition ship, the MV Ultramarine complete with the two helicopters onboard and set sail towards the Antarctic Peninsula.
After two days we will wake up in the snowy realm of the White Continent, a land that mesmerises and humbles all who are fortunate enough to see it with their own eyes.
For the next 7 days we will sail south along the Antarctic Peninsula, navigating between spectacular channels and around glaciated islands with the aim to cross the Antarctic Circle at 66º latitude.
Our ship holds less than 200 passengers, falling within IAATO’s strict passenger number guidelines. This means no guest needs to remain on the ship during excursions and maximises the amount of time spent out exploring.
The NOMADasaurus Tour Group will also have their own zodiacs to get into shallow coves, carefully approach penguin rookeries, hopefully enjoy some whale encounters and to dock on the continent and islands.
Each day will be different, and the activities will vary from visiting an active scientific research station to hiking up snowy hills for sprawling views.
We have purposely chosen March to depart on this tour as being later in the season is peak viewing time for humpback whales, who are busy feeding at the end of the summer before starting their migrations north. It is not uncommon to see pods of a dozen or more at any one time, and having been on the Peninsula at this time of year we can confirm that the experience of seeing such huge numbers of these majestic and athletic whales in Antarctica is something that nobody ever forgets.
March is also a unique time where most of the sea ice has melted, providing a (hopefully) clear passage to the Antarctic Circle. Being right before the onset of winter also means that snow is starting to fall again, blanketing the continent in a fresh layer of powder that covers up evidence of previous voyages and leaves the entire place looking pristine.
This late in the season also means the midnight sun phenomena is over, which results in long, vibrant and colourful sunrises and sunsets. For photographers and landscape lovers, this along with fresh snow is as beautiful as you can get.
Throughout the entire tour you will be accompanied by Alesha Bradford and Jarryd Salem, the co-founders of the NOMADasaurus Tour Company. As world-renowned professional travel photographers and journalists, they will be on hand at all times to conduct photography workshops, provide one-on-one guidance and look after the group.
