The Run-Down Nearly a million tulips popping up in the Dandenongs is pretty hard to ignore. We’re heading up to the historic Tesselaar farm for a relaxed morning walk among the rows. No boring slideshows or stuffy classroom vibes here—just grab your camera, meet some great local shooters, and spend a couple of hours making the most of Melbourne’s loudest spring colours.
The Fine Print (Tickets & Weather) You’ll need to grab your own festival entry ticket directly from the Tesselaar website before showing up. Spring weather in the hills likes to keep things interesting, so if the bloom timing or the forecast pulls a sudden shift, registered folks will get a quick heads-up via email well ahead of time.
What We’re Doing We’ll be wandering the fields with cameras ready, swapping ideas and testing out practical field tricks on the fly. We’ll look at how to tuck behind foreground flowers for that soft, dreamy blur, how to keep midday sun from frying your colours, and how to frame your shots so three dozen tourists don't photobomb your background.
Shoot Canon, Nikon, Fuji, or anything else? You’re completely set. If you've been curious about the Sony world, I’ll also have a few flagship bodies and G Master lenses on hand for people to test-drive. Just drop me a note two weeks early if there’s a specific bit of glass you want to try.
