Lighting Fundamentals: Now It's Your Turn!

About the event

After January’s packed‑out Lighting Fundamentals seminar, we’re excited to take the next step with this follow‑up event that leaves theory behind and puts the camera directly in your hands. With a professional model, hands‑on instruction, and a much smaller group size, attendees will have the chance to apply lighting techniques in a focused and practical environment.

Sony advocate Clyde Vaughn as well Steve from Nanlite will be returning to offer you tips as you shoot, so you’ll have the experts by your side for guidance as you work with the model in front of difference backdrops. Gain valuable practical experience shooting in a studio environment and walk away with a collection of amazing photos to strengthen your portfolio.

Along with taking the photos, you’ll be part of setting up the studio lights and backdrop so you can see how everything comes together behind the scenes. It’s a great way to get comfortable with the full studio workflow, from getting the space ready to capturing the final shot.

What you will learn:

  • Help set up the studio and take photos, giving you hands-on experience with the full studio workflow.

  • Guide and communicate with a professional model to achieve natural, dynamic, and intentional poses.

  • Practical studio‑lighting techniques, including key‑light control, fill balancing, and creative light shaping.

  • Control exposure, shutter speed, and aperture to freeze motion, manage highlights, and create consistently well‑lit studio images.

What to bring

  • Bring your own camera but there will be loan equipment to try.
  • Memory card so you can keep your photos at the end of the workshop.
