Join Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Craig Turnbull on a Macro Photography rainforest walk, where you will explore the fascinating world of capturing close-up images in a rainforest environment. In this workshop, we will focus on utilising portable LED lights and off-camera flash to enhance and illuminate your macro photographs. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop will provide you with valuable techniques and tips to create stunning rainforest macro images.

1. Introduction to Macro Photography in the Rainforest:

  •    Importance of macro photography in capturing intricate details of rainforest flora and fauna.
  •    Understand the unique challenges and opportunities of photographing in a rainforest environment.

2. Equipment Overview:

  • Introduction to essential equipment for macro photography in the rainforest, including macro lenses, extension tubes, portable LED lights, off-camera flash, etc.
  • Explanation of how each piece of equipment enhances your macro photography.

 

Techniques covered

  • Lighting Techniques: - Understanding natural lighting conditions in the rainforest and its impact on macro photography. - Introduction to using portable LED lights to create additional light sources, highlighting specific details of your subject. - Introduction to off-camera flash and its role in controlling lighting and adding creative effects to your macro images. - Learning how to balance ambient light with artificial lighting sources for more aesthetically pleasing results.
  • Composition and Subject Selection: - Tips for selecting interesting macro subjects in the rainforest. - Guidelines for composing visually compelling macro images. - Techniques for capturing the intricate details and textures of rainforest flora and fauna.
  • Practical Session: - Hands-on shooting session in the rainforest, applying the techniques learned.
