About the event
Learn the essentials of night photography at Sydney Observatory, one of the city’s most iconic and historic locations. This monthly workshop is designed for beginners and photography enthusiasts looking to develop practical skills for shooting after dark.
Each two-hour session is co-led by a Sony Digital Imaging Ambassador or Advocate and a Sydney Observatory host, providing expert guidance in a supportive learning environment.
The workshop covers core night photography techniques, including photographing the night sky, stars, moon, cityscapes, and creative methods such as long exposures, star trails, and light painting.
Participants will have the opportunity to use a selection of Sony Digital Imaging cameras and lenses, gaining hands-on experience while capturing Sydney’s night lights, the surrounding skyline, and the Observatory’s heritage architecture.
Suitable for all experience levels, this workshop provides clear instruction on camera settings, equipment, and workflow, helping participants build confidence and practical skills they can apply to future night photography sessions.
