Connecting expansive landscapes and macro perspectives

About the event

Scale and Stillness is a fine-art photography exhibition by Sydney based photographer Fiona McClintock, exploring different perspectives within nature through water, movement, texture, reflections and light.

Can a photograph evoke a memory, stir an emotion or reveal something unexpected within a familiar subject? What happens when we slow down long enough to absorb – not simply glance, recognise and move on, but pause and allow an image to unfold?

Much of contemporary life encourages us to look quickly and decide immediately. This exhibition offers an alternative: an invitation to pause, look again and rediscover the wonder within nature. My objective is not simply document nature as it appears, but to search and wait for the moment when a subject transforms, balancing recognition with curiosity.

Bring together evocative landscapes and natural macro details, the exhibition uses selective focus, considered composition and abstract studies of pattern, scale, movement and form. Each photograph creates a sensory encounter, a moment of stillness, connection, rhythm and curiosity.

Presented with support from Ted’s Cameras and Sony Australia, Scale and Stillness invites audiences to rediscover the natural world through a different way of seeing. An accompanying artist talk will explore the ideas, stories and techniques behind the exhibition.

Join Fiona McClintock as she discusses the Sony camera equipment and lenses used to create the work and how light, perspective, scale and reflection are used to uncover abstract compositions within natural environments.

The Scale and Stillness exhibition launch will include a Q&A session and opportunities to view and discuss the selected works with the artist.
