Back by popular demand in 2023, we bring you an exclusive surf shooting experience at URBNSURF with Sony Australia and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Dylan Giannakopoulos.
During this 2.5-hour photography workshop you will have exclusive shooting access to Australia’s first surf park (URBNSURF). With guaranteed waves and access to Sonys best gear, including GMaster lenses and long telephoto lenses (including the Sony 600mm f/4 GM OSS G Lens), you will capture phenomenal action surf photographs.
Hosted by Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Dylan Giannakopoulos, and guided by a team of Sony Imaging specialists and Croydon Camera House, learn how to shoot surf photography from the experts. Dylan will share his knowledge of photographing sports, from composition ideas to camera settings and storytelling. Sony Imaging specialists will be on hand facilitating the loan gear, assisting guests with camera settings and helping you discover the full power of the Sony system.
URBNSURF has a strict no cameras policy, but we have been able to gain you exclusive shooting access for this event! Running on Saturday 15th April 2023, there are two sessions available. Session one = 8:00am to 10:30am. Session two = 11:00am to 1:30pm. With strictly limited places available for each session, book today to secure your place. Tickets are $99 per person.
This is a Sony event but is open to all skill levels and all photographers, all camera brand users are welcome.

URBNSURF Melbourne is Australia’s first surf park, located at 309 Melrose Drive, Tullamarine. We deliver perfect waves and incredible surfing experiences for all ages and abilities in a safe, controlled environment.
Typically you needed an ocean, and the elements to align (swell, tide, winds, daylight) to score good, let alone perfect waves. And if you want to learn, or are chasing surf, you have to commit time to driving to a coast, checking multiple spots, and be willing to battle crowds at popular breaks. There’s also the risk of marine hazards, including rips, the cold, and hungry monsters of the deep. So what’s the solution?

*Participants are to make their own way to and from the event location. Please wear appropriate and safe footwear as the ground may be slippery. Your ticket fee includes entry into URBN Surf for the duration of the event. For this event you will not be surfing or in the water, you will be photographing the surfers from around the bays.
