Join me as I interview the incredibly talented Meghan Maloney, Sony NZ Ambassador and an inspiring figure in the world of landscape and astrophotography.
After a 15-year career as a corporate accountant, Meghan made a bold pivot to pursue her passion for photography—and what a journey it’s been! Her eye for New Zealand’s breathtaking beauty and her gift for storytelling through imagery have made her a standout in the field.
Meghan has been a Sony NZ Advocate for five years, and for the past two years, she’s proudly held the title of Sony Ambassador. Her work has taken her to some truly awe-inspiring places, including three seasons photographing in Antarctica, and she’s also served as a judge for the landscape category of the Sony Alpha Awards.
What sets Meghan apart is not only her stunning visual style—often using natural light and filters to craft surreal, artistic landscapes—but also her love of teaching. She’s educated hundreds of photographers, both in person and online, with a unique ability to simplify complex photography concepts into bite-sized, easy-to-learn lessons.
From speaking at conventions to leading workshops, Meghan’s happy place is in education—though she’ll tell you nothing quite compares to the peace of capturing a quiet sunrise, mountain reflections dancing on a still lake.
