Join me on Wednesday, May 7th, as I interview Victoria Baldwin, an incredibly talented Auckland-based photographer whose passion for food photography is deeply rooted in the human connections it inspires. Her work is known for its bold, optimistic style and vivid realism, capturing the essence of food in a way that tells a story beyond the plate.
Originally from Sydney, Victoria grew up surrounded by the world of food production, which naturally led to her combining this love with photography. Whether she’s in the studio or out in the field, she brings a deep understanding of every part of the process, crafting images that are both striking and meaningful.
With a background in theatre, Victoria has a keen eye for mise en scène, working closely with art directors to ensure every detail—both in and out of the frame—contributes to the overall impact of an image. Her structured approach to image-making ensures her work is not only visually compelling but also perfectly suited to its intended medium.
Victoria is also a leader in the photography community, having served as vice president of the Advertising and Illustrative Photographers Association. She’s also the founder of the Women’s Work Collective, championing equality for female photographers in the industry. Through her work on panels, webinars, and workshops, she continues to share her knowledge and advocate for a more inclusive and compassionate creative space.
