What is in your camera bag?
Usually I'll have my Alpha 7 III and 5 go to Lenses, now I have the A7IV to my camera list and it now my go to camera for stills and video, (see my cameras and lenses list below) and other camera gear accessories eg such as cleaning kit, spare batteries, spare SD cards, my Colour Checker Card, and Tripod and mini Tripod. My camera bag is always ready for any shoot and adjust to what is needed.
What is your go to in your Alpha kit and why?
For my Landscapes ~ My go to camera would be my trusted Alpha 7 IV, and two of my favourite lenses 16-35mm FE ƒ4 ZA and the 70-200mm FE ƒ4 G OSS. My choice of the lenses gives me a broad range of focal lengths from 16mm to 200mm and even (300mm in crop mode) for the extra reach.
I keep my camera bag as light as possible with a small amount of my camera accessories.
For Events ~ Portraits, Street and group photowalks. Alpha 7 IV and most of my lenses would be of and depending on at the time and what is needed ~ 16-35mm FE ƒ4 ZA, 24-70mm FE ƒ4 ZA, 55mm FE ƒ1.8 ZA, 85mm FE ƒ1.8, 90mm Macro FE ƒ2.8 G OSS, 70-200mm FE ƒ4 G OSS. Not all lenses are required and to keep things light for travel as I have other accessories; eg speedlights, trigger.
My most recent lens and best purchase is the FE 135mm ƒ1.8 G Master for those special capture moments.
3# Weddings ~ Two camera bodies Alpha 7 II, Alpha 7 IV, Lenses 16-35mm FE ƒ4 ZA, 24-70mm FE ƒ4 ZA, 85mm FE ƒ1.8, 90mm Macro FE ƒ2.8 G OSS, 70-200mm FE ƒ4 G OSS. And my FE 135mm ƒ1.8 G Master lens.
The 3 zoom lenses I have allows me the width and reach that the prime lenses cannot cover. For example when capturing those special moments at a wedding, I'm not in the way of a ceremony while using my zoom lens opposed to the prime lens.
4# Studio ~ Alpha 7 IV, Lenses ~ 85mm FE ƒ1.8, 90mm Macro FE ƒ2.8 G OSS, 55mm FE ƒ1.8 ZA, 24-70mm FE ƒ4 ZA. These are my primary go to lenses in studio. The 70-200mm FE f4 G OSS is a exception, if there is enough studio space.
Most memorable moment shooting with Alpha?
As a Minolta 35mm flim shooter, made sense to change over to Sony digital Mirrorless 35mm fullframe cameras from the start, since the very A7 that started the Alpha series cameras. Yes I have the opportunity to have used all cameras and lenses to date! And never had looked back! Till this day, year of 2023, Sony still hads advanced cameras and lenses and the most available lenses. One mount for both E-mount and Fe ( fullframe) and 3rd party lenses available.
Looking forward to the next advanced generation of Sony Alpha cameras to come!
