Michelle Kennedy is a multi-award-winning portrait photographer and digital artist whose creative journey has spanned a lifetime.

While she may be a newer face in the photography world compared to some of her peers, her background in performing arts, visual arts, and even cake decorating has gifted her a rich and diverse skill set. These experiences shape her workshops and presentations, inspiring participants to explore and express their own style and creative voice.

Michelle discovered her passion for photography and digital art after joining a camera club about a decade ago - a community that has played a pivotal role in nurturing her artistry and igniting her love for the craft.

Early in her photography journey Michelle quickly discovered a passion for Adobe Photoshop and creating Composite Images. When asked what type of images she likes to create - "I particularly love creating images with animals taking part in human activities. I always love to hear how people relate to different aspects of the images when they look at them. In my image 'The Commute' (See below) people can see themselves or a friend and how they behave on the train. I like to add as many details as I can and make them look as real as possible."

The Commute

Michelle's very first Creative Composite Image she created (See below) was an image titled "Passed Out". It only took 3 images, but the end image had her hooked. She entered it in a National Competition where it was awarded 1st Place and she hasn't stopped creating since.

Passed Out

Over the years Michelle says she has learned many lessons on what to do and not to do when creating Digital Artworks and is always keen to share her knowledge, skills and tips and tricks with anyone willing to learn.

Red Riding Hood

It isn't just Digital Composite Artworks that showcase Michelle's mastery. With years of diverse creative experience, she has developed the skills to design and lead unique, inspiring workshops that help attendees discover their own creative voice and direction. Passionate about the process of creation, Michelle fosters an environment where participants of all levels feel supported to learn, experiment, and grow.

This passion gave rise to the Creative Space with Michelle Kennedy workshops. The very first in the series, INK & WATER, invited attendees to step into a world of freedom and exploration, equipping them with the tools and guidance to capture their own in-camera masterpieces.

Ink & Water

If you have an opportunity to attend a workshop with Michelle Kennedy, you will not be disappointed, there's always something new to learn and take away. You're sure to leave feeling inspired, motivated, and ready to create.

What is your go to in your Alpha kit and why?

My go to kit is the Alpha 7RV with the 24-70 GMaster II, 70-200 GMaster II and the 2x teleconverter.   The series II Lenses are so light this makes this kit easy to carry around all day but gives me freedom to photograph anything I need to with incredible depth of field.  The A7RV has enough megapixels to allow me to crop in so I'm not dissappointed if my subject ends up being just that little bit further away.
