Stephanie Killip

French-born Kiwi photographer, filmmaker, and creative director Steph Killip has been in the business for almost two decades. She began in film and TV, then worked in marketing for creative businesses before starting her own photography business and going full-time shooting high-end weddings.

With Bubblerock, she has travelled and worked in over 20 countries and many exotic locations - from Europe, the Bahamas, Jamaica, South America, and of course New Zealand and Australia.

Based between New Zealand and France, she now also shoots fashion and brand campaigns through her creative agency, The Summerly.

Her work has been seen online and in print for major publications as well as in exhibitions in New Zealand. It is both full of nostalgia and minimalist elegance, with a great focus on people. She finds inspiration in movies and interior design, often describing her work as the love child of a Vogue cover and a warm hug. This analogy goes further with her work feeling right at home in mid-century design - a humanist, raw, and understated elegance full of warmth and emotions.

Steph regularly travels between her home in New Zealand and France (husband and son in tow) as she continues to shoot destination weddings and brand campaigns, as well as mentor other photographers and small creative business owners.

What is your go to in your Alpha kit and why?

Right now, my Alpha 7 IV and FE 55mm F1.8 Zeiss are my everyday camera and lens combo. This setup is nice and compact, delivering amazing portraits and all-round performance - especially on international jobs.
