About the event
Alpha Insights is an ongoing series of monthly Zoom interviews, where we chat with talented photographers and videographers who use Sony Alpha equipment to produce exceptional imagery. During each 60-minute session, we’ll discuss their career to date, analyse their best work, and delve into their creative practices. Our guest this month is award-winning landscape photographer Laurie Winter.
Based in Wellington, Laurie loves nature photography and is happiest when out shooting New Zealand's stunning and diverse scenery. She has always enjoyed taking pictures, but until a few years ago it was always in auto mode. In 2016 Laurie purchased a mirrorless camera and committed to learning how to use it properly. Photography quickly became a passion and her skillset improved rapidly as she travelled around Aotearoa creating exquisitely crafted landscape images.
Not surprisingly, Laurie has amassed are large following on Instagram (@laurie_winter) and also won a number of photography awards - including the landscape category at the 2021 Alpha Awards, and the astro category at the 2022 Alpha Awards.
