Beauty Portraits - Color Gels Studio Lighting Workshop

Part of Sony Scene Festival 2026

Step into the creative side of studio portraiture in this hands-on beauty photography workshop combining studio lighting, coloured gels and a fashion/beauty model.

We'll explore how coloured gels can transform a simple portrait into a bold, polished and creative beauty image.

Working through different lighting setups, you'll learn how to:

• Mix and layer different coloured gels

• Position lights for flattering beauty portraits

• Control colour spill and unwanted light

• Shape highlights and shadows

• Create separation using colour and rim lighting

• Balance multiple colours within one image

• Build dramatic, vibrant and editorial-style portraits

We'll create several different looks throughout the session, giving attendees the opportunity to photograph our model and experiment with each lighting setup.
