Step into the creative side of studio portraiture in this hands-on beauty photography workshop combining studio lighting, coloured gels and a fashion/beauty model.
We'll explore how coloured gels can transform a simple portrait into a bold, polished and creative beauty image.
Working through different lighting setups, you'll learn how to:
Mix and layer different coloured gels
Position lights for flattering beauty portraits
Control colour spill and unwanted light
Shape highlights and shadows
Create separation using colour and rim lighting
Balance multiple colours within one image
Build dramatic, vibrant and editorial-style portraits
We'll create several different looks throughout the session, giving attendees the opportunity to photograph our model and experiment with each lighting setup.
This workshop is part of Sony Scene Festival 2026. Eligible attendees can receive an entry into Sony's competition for the chance to win one of five Sony-hosted photography experiences in Tokyo & Kyoto, Japan, subject to Sony's competition terms.
