About the event
This will be a very casual and unique event which will be hosted at the very popular 2019 Live Bar of the Year - The Brooklyn Standard in Brisbane.
The venue itself is decked out New York style, with lots of interesting and unique scenes to capture. Unfortunately there won't be a live band playing for us, but the venue has kindly opened their doors especially for our workshop.
We'll be exploring all the techniques and camera equipment required to shoot in a technically difficult venue. One of the largest challenges is the mixed exposure you'll find at a venue like this; bright coloured lights for the band; warm low light at the bar; and in some places very little light at all.
There's no shortage of scenes to capture at a live band venue or night club. With that in mind, we'll look at ways to take shots of the band, posed and candid shots of the patrons, the venue and its environment, cocktails and drinks, and if permitted shots of the wait staff mixing drinks and serving.
Lastly to make this a little more interesting there will a hands on challenge for everyone to complete.
Drinks will be available to purchase at the bar and a selection of drinks will be made available for photographic purposes.
This event is open to users of all camera manufacturer, however a selection of Sony camera bodies and lenses will be available to use for the duration of the event.
