About the event
Join award-winning photographer and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Dylan Giannakopoulos for an exciting workshop exploring the fundamentals of food photography. As most Melbournians know, Fitzroy is home to some of the country’s finest cafes, bakeries and restaurants. This workshop will take place at one of Dylan’s favourite cafes, Pony White.
The workshop will start with a short presentation where you will learn about the fundamentals of food photography from both a technical and creative perspective. After ordering your tea or coffee, the photography will commence. Whilst you fight the urge to eat the delicious dishes that the chef has selected for us, Dylan will be there to help you get that perfect flat lay that would leave even the fustiest foodie or influencer drooling!
At the workshop you will:
- Discover how to use depth of field and field of view to direct viewers and eliminate distracting elements.
- Understand how to manipulate natural light by using light modifiers such as reflectors and scrims.
- Learn about the three elements that make up the exposure triangle (ISO, aperture and shutter speed) and how to balance them to achieve correct exposure.
- Master control of aperture priority and manual camera modes.
This workshop is well suited to beginners or intermediate photographers who would like a refresher on the basics and of course foodies & caffeine addicts!
Strictly limited to 6 attendees, the workshop’s small group structure ensures that Dylan can provide plenty of one on one tuition. Guest will also be invited to join a private Facebook group which is strictly limited to past attendees of Dylan Gianna Photography Workshops. The Facebook group offers members a space to share their images, ask questions and learn tips and tricks from Dylan.
