Explore the coastal wonderland of Arakwal National Park

About the event

Join like-minded bird and wildlife photography enthusiasts and myself for this casual photowalk through Arakwal National Park, the biodiverse coastal forest adjoining Tallow Beach in Byron Bay. There's an excellent chance of seeing some photogenic birds and mammals as we amble towards the ocean and wetland area – and I'll be more than happy to share my wildlife photography tips over the course of this informal session.

This event is suitable for all levels of experience, including complete beginners or people that don't have a camera yet. I'll answer any technical or gear questions you might have while we attempt to find some cool animals. It's an easy, flat walk.

We'll meet at the Coral Ct entrance to Arakwal – the 'Ocean Trail' – and walk into the park from there, likely covering 2–2.5 km distance and finishing up around sunset.

Techniques covered

  • General wildlife photography tips
  • Camera settings and setup
  • Lens choice and use in the field

What to bring

  • Your own camera, if you have it (otherwise binoculars are helpful, if you have them!)
