Creating great images for clients

About the event

You’ve got a style. You’ve got taste. You can make great images when you’re shooting for yourself.

Then a “real client” shows up… and suddenly you’re second-guessing everything.

They want something safe. You want something honest.

They say “make it more me” but can’t explain what that means.

And now you’re trying to keep your aesthetic alive while also delivering what they actually need.

This workshop is built for that exact moment.

Fashion photographer Gracie Steindl will break down how she photographs artists, personalities, and real people in a way that feels flattering, confident, and still true to her visual world. We’ll cover how to translate a vague brief into clear creative direction, how to run a proper pre-production conversation, and how to keep control of the shoot without turning it into a power struggle.

This is a live demo session, not a hands-on shoot for attendees.

We’ll be working through a real client-style scenario on the night, so you can see how the communication, direction and decision-making actually plays out in real time.

What you’ll learn

You’ll walk away with a practical framework for:

  • Getting clarity from clients who don’t know how to explain what they want

  • Running a pre-production interview that saves your shoot (and your edit)

  • Marrying your style to the client’s needs without watering yourself down

  • Directing people so they look and feel good on camera (without awkward posing)

  • Making choices that keep your final images consistent, even when the brief is messy

We’ll open with Gracie’s approach to shooting people professionally — how she reads a brief, keeps a consistent aesthetic, and makes talent look great.

Then we’ll break down the client conversation: what to ask, how to find the real goal, how to get alignment, and how to avoid the usual miscommunication traps.

After that, we move into a live demo using a real client-style scenario, showing direction, flow, and how decisions get made on the spot.

We finish with Q&A and practical next steps you can apply to your next paid shoot.
