A hands-on MTB action workshop for photo and video enthusiasts

About the event

Mountain biking is raw, fast, and unpredictable and this workshop is all about capturing that adrenaline in both stills and video. From high-speed berms to airborne moments, you’ll learn how to translate trail energy into powerful visual storytelling.

Hosted by Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Joanne Stephan, this hands-on outdoor session is designed specifically for hybrid shooters who want to elevate their action work. You’ll discover how to anticipate rider movement, track subjects through technical sections, and create cinematic sequences that make viewers feel like they’re on the trail.

Whether you’re shooting photos, video, or both, this is your chance to push your skills, experiment with dynamic angles, and capture authentic MTB culture in a real riding environment. Expect dirt, speed, laughs, and plenty of epic moments. 🤘

  • Freezing high-speed downhill action with the right shutter speeds and AF settings
  • Panning techniques to create motion blur and a true sense of speed
  • Positioning yourself safely for the most dramatic angles on trail features

  • Working with natural light in a forest environment
