About the event

Have you ever wanted to shoot astrophotography but haven't had the opportunity or equipment to do so?

Join award-winning photographer and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Dylan Giannakopoulos at his Introduction to Astrophotography Workshop held at Flinders Blowhole on Saturday 4th May 2024. Nothing quite compares to the feeling of seeing the Milky Way light up your LCD for the first time, so why not come and experience it for yourself!

At the workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Use the 500 rule to capture tack-sharp stars.
  • Plan your astrophotography shoots around moon phases and galactic centre visibility
  • Manually focus your lens
  • Utilise compositional techniques to create eye-catching images of the Milky Way

Strictly limited to 6 attendees, the workshop’s small group structure ensures that Dylan can provide plenty of one on one tuition. You will also be invited to join a private Facebook group which is strictly limited to past attendees of Dylan Gianna Photography Workshops. The Facebook group offers members a space to share their images, ask questions and learn tips and tricks from Dylan.

Why not make a day of it?

Guests who book Dylan’s Introduction to Astrophotography workshop session on the 4th of May 2024 will be sent a 20% discount code for Dylan’s Sunsets at Shelley Pier Photography Workshop on the same day, through Sony Scene messages. The code will be sent out within 48-72 hours, subject to availability.

WEATHER & COVID POLICY

Astrophotography workshops are highly weather dependent and the decision to cancel or postpone the workshop due to weather conditions will be made 24-48 hours prior unless in extraordinary circumstances. Conditions are rarely perfect and the cloud coverage can change quite quickly and is often unpredictable. If we are waiting for clouds to clear, the core concepts will still be taught and other techniques such as light painting will be introduced. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, you must not attend the event. Please contact sonyscene.sanz@sony.com prior to the event to arrange a refund
