It’s time to take our cameras out into the real world!
We’ll recap on Day 1: Camera Basics and then head out on a guided photowalk down to Ruakaka Beach (NIWA end) where participants can put everything they learned into practice in a different scene.
Along the way there’ll be photography challenges and prompts encouraging kids to explore composition, perspective, light, movement, colour, details and visual storytelling.
We’ll also look at some of the images together, talk about what makes a photo stand out, and give participants the opportunity to ask questions and get individual guidance.
Participants are welcome to bring their own camera if they have one, but Sony will also be supplying cameras to practise on.
Kirsty is a Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, professional photographer and police-vetted junior sports coach with many years of experience working with and teaching young people.
The goal isn't just to teach kids which buttons to press - it's to help them slow down, notice the world around them, experiment, and discover what they can create through a camera.
