About the event

Welcome to the Light Painting for Automotive Photography Workshop! In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to create stunning and dynamic images of cars using the art of light painting. Light painting is a technique that involves using continous light to illuminate the subject during a long exposure, resulting in captivating and visually striking images.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Learn the equipment and tools needed for successful light painting shoots.
  • Master techniques to effectively paint light on cars, creating unique and captivating images.
  • Comprehend camera settings and exposure considerations for achieving the desired results.
  • Gain the ability to use creative lighting to enhance the mood and atmosphere of your automotive photos.

1. Introduction to Light Painting

  • What is light painting?
  • The history and artistry behind the technique.
  • How light painting can elevate automotive photography.

2. Essential Equipment and Gear

  • Cameras and lenses suitable for automotive photography.
  • Tripods and other stabilization tools for long exposures.
  • Various light sources and modifiers for painting with light.

3. Planning and Location Scouting

  • Choosing the right location for your automotive light painting shoot.
  • Understanding the importance of composition and angles.
  • Pre-visualizing your shots and creating a shot list.

4. Camera Settings for Light Painting

  • Selecting the appropriate camera mode and shooting in manual.
  • Understanding ISO, aperture, and shutter speed for long exposures.
  • Setting up your camera for optimal light painting results.

5. Light Painting Techniques

  • Demonstration: Painting light on a stationary car.
  • Painting from different angles to create dimension and depth.
  • Using color gels and light stencils for creative effects.

6. Hands-on Light Painting Session

  • Participants will have the opportunity to apply the techniques they've learned.
  • One-on-one guidance and support from the instructor during the session.
