New Zealand South Island Winter Adventure Workshop

There’s nothing quite like winter in New Zealand. Snow-capped peaks, glassy mirror lakes and the kind of light that takes your breath away.

Spend five action packed days in the field with me next winter as we will travel to some of my favourite South Island locations. I will shoot alongside you, showing you my techniques for getting the shot and what I look for in a scene.

Immerse yourself in epic landscapes, connect with like-minded creatives, and learn skills to elevate your photography and videography in one of the world’s most photogenic regions!

Queenstown

• After everyone arrives in Queenstown on Thursday, August 13th, we'll head out for a welcome dinner so you can meet the fellow members on the trip.

• Mount Aspiring Scenic Flight

  Watch the sun break from behind Mount Aspiring, New Zealand’s highest mountain outside the Aoraki/Mount Cook Region. Top tip – wear black or dark clothing to avoid reflections in your photos.

  I will also brief you the previous evening and mid-flight on what gear and techniques to use for aerial photography to make sure you walk away with the best possible images from this once in a lifetime flight.

• Creative Masterclass

  Enjoy a delicious brunch as we take some time to review and edit your content from the scenic flight. I will provide one-on-one guidance, answering all of your questions. We'll also dive into the essential business aspects of being a creative.

  Photo editing masterclass - Advanced Lightroom, Photoshop, and Luminar Neo editing techniques from importing to exporting.

  Gaining clients - I’ll share how I find and attract new clients.

  Creating media kits and pitch decks

  Building your personal brand

  Storytelling techniques

Fiordland

• Spend two nights in Fiordland national park. We'll drive the Milford road, stopping at various points along the way.

• Lake Marian Hike

  One of my favourite hikes in Fiordland, walk through beautiful forests to an alpine lake in a secluded hanging valley.

• Key Summit Hike

  A short but rewarding alpine nature walk with stunning panoramic views over the Humboldt and Darran Mountains.

• Milford Sound Boat Cruise

  No trip to Milford is complete until you’ve spent the afternoon on the waters of Milford Sound. After returning from our boat we will capture sunset on the shores.

• Lenses - a variety between 16mm-200mm to cover all bases (I will also have extra Sony gear with me for those of you wanting to try something different. Please let me know at least 3 weeks in advance if there is any specific Sony gear you would like to try.)
• Laptop or tablet for creative masterclass 
• Rain jacket
• Down jacket - it will be cold
