About the event
Here's a nice session to prepare for your holiday photography.
Do you struggle with photo composition? Do you think you could do better, but don’t know how? Do you attend one workshop after another but feel no improvement?
If that's how you feel, the good news is: you’re not alone. For example, cameras have mastered all the basics, but if you think you’re bad at photo composition, look at what a camera does when it gets no help from you!
Sharpness: perfect! Exposure: pretty good! White balance: yeah, alright! Composition: oh, ****!
Here’s one more important bit of good news. The path to photo composition is actually hard-wired into your brain. It's in each and every one of us.
This Zoom meeting sets out to prove this stunning statement. And I’ll give you some simple tips that have made a difference for students over many years of mentoring. Yes; I’ll share with you the ‘secrets’ you think are being kept from you.
Join me if …
- You feel the Rule of Thirds is limiting and doesn’t make much sense.
- You’re tired of learning numerous rules of composition and trying to apply them.
- You look at great, classic images and think ‘Waitaminnit! Surely that breaks the rule that says you should never (… fill in your rule).’
- You believe there must be a better way to decide whether a composition works or not.
- You feel a little jaded and less excited by photography than you used to be: insights into composition can be inspirational.
We will round up with Q&A time (this is an interactive meeting).
If you wish to show an image for comment on its composition, I’ll be happy to do two or three depending on time available. But this will not be a full image review: we'll concentrate just on composition. You can email me the image or, if you’re confident about sharing your screen on Zoom, do that.
