About the event
Join me for an overnight fun photography adventure, where we will hike to the Pinnacles on The Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand.
We will meet at the end of Kauaeranga Valley Road (40 mins drive from Thames) at 1:00pm on the 30th October 2019. From there, we will take a 4 hour (approx) hike from the car park to Pinnacles Hut where we will stay for the evening.
We will take a 30 min hike from the hut up to The Pinnacles for sunset and sunrise to snap some photos and soak up the amazing views. There's a fair bit of uphill walking, steps and possibly mud, so you'd really want to enjoy hiking and have a moderate level of fitness.
Whilst this is not an educational workshop, it will be a fun photography experience, with the opportunity to meet other like-minded adventurers. I will of course be on hand if you need any help while shooting and to answer any questions.
The meetup is free, and there's a small charge of $15 for the Pinnacles Hut. Your bunk will be booked for you, so you will need to bring cash on the day for payment. You'll also need to bring a sleeping bag and any food and drinks you require.
Once we have captured the sunrise we will hike back down the Pinnacles to the carpark, with the aim to be back to our cars around lunchtime on 31st October 2019.
Techniques covered
- This is more of a fun photography adventure than an educational style workshop. There will not be any technical classroom style sessions, we will be just out there shooting together. I'll be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
What to bring
- Camera & Tripod if you like. (You'll be hiking so light weight kit would be a bonus).
- Hiking gear (be prepared for rain).
- Food & Drink (there are cooking facilities at the hut).
- Sleeping bag
