Advanced portrait masterclass and photowalk presented by Sony Australia

About the event

Unlock your creative potential at the ASUS ProArt & Sony Creator Hub event in Sydney, where Sony Digital Imaging Ambassador and award‑winning photographer Mark Galer will lead a high‑impact portrait photography masterclass.

In this session, Mark will show you how to set up and register optimized camera settings for different styles and shooting scenarios—so you can stay fully engaged with your subject instead of getting distracted by menus and dials. You’ll learn how to build stronger compositions, craft visual narratives, and work with intention rather than instinct.

During the guided photowalk, Mark will dive into creating environmental portraits that reveal character and mood. You’ll explore how to use ambient light effectively, when and how to introduce additional light as conditions change, and why background choice can make or break a portrait. You’ll also learn techniques for putting your subject at ease to capture authentic, powerful expressions.

Your ticket includes:

  • A 40‑minute portrait masterclass hosted by Mark Galer
  • A guided photowalk around Darling Harbour, also led by Mark

This session is designed for advanced and professional photographers ready to elevate their portrait work with refined technique and creative control.
