We're bringing back one of our most popular workshop concepts from years past — Glamour in the Rain.
Using a purpose-built artificial rain rig inside the studio, we'll combine glamour and fashion portraiture with dramatic studio lighting, backlit rain and atmospheric fog to create bold, cinematic images.
You'll learn both the creative and technical side of rain photography, including:
How a studio rain rig works
How to make rain visible with lighting
Backlighting and rim lighting techniques
Shaping light around the model
Using fog to add depth and atmosphere
Camera settings for photographing rain
Freezing droplets vs introducing movement
Posing and directing a model in a rain environment
Creating dramatic fashion and glamour portraits
We'll work through several lighting and posing variations, giving photographers plenty of opportunities to shoot and build a strong collection of images.
This workshop is part of Sony Scene Festival 2026. Eligible attendees can receive an entry into Sony's competition for the chance to win one of five Sony-hosted photography experiences in Tokyo & Kyoto, Japan, subject to Sony's competition terms.
