About the event

Join us for Scene Fest Live, an action-packed afternoon of creativity, learning, and hands-on inspiration presented by Camera Electronic and Sony Australia and hosted by Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Andrew J Clarke.

Whether you’re into portraiture, filmmaking, cityscape photography or just want to get hands on with the latest Sony Alpha and Cinema Line gear, this is your chance to connect, create, and elevate your craft.

☕ 12:30 PM – Coffee & Cameras [FREE]

Kick off the day with a relaxed coffee catch-up and touch and try event. Meet fellow photographers, filmmakers, and Sony creators, and get hands on with the latest gear from Sony Australia.


📸 1:00-3:00 PM – Editorial Edge: Creative Portraiture with Jess Page

Explore the art of editorial-style portrait photography with Jess Page. Using both natural and artificial light, learn how to craft creative scenes, shape light, and direct your subject to produce striking, concept-driven portraits that stand out. We'll have multiple sets with models for you to make the most of your time in our amazing venue!


🎥 3:00-3:30 PM – Video Essentials with Andrew J Clarke

Thinking about getting into video? Andrew J Clarke breaks down how to set up your camera for filmmaking success — from exposure and frame rates to focus and picture profiles — so you can confidently move from stills to motion. This will be a great primer for new filmmakers thinking of joining our cinematic interview session!


🎬 3:30-5:30 PM – Framing the Story: Cinematic Interviews with Jeremy Hammer 

Join documentary cinematographer Jeremy Hammer for an inside look at capturing authentic, cinematic interviews. Jeremy will break down his Cinema Line setup, guide you through an interview with our special guest (classical guitarist Emily Hobday) before you will have the opportunity to capture some performance footage to complete your own micro documentary. Learn how to blend lighting, composition, and sound to create powerful on-camera conversations that tell a story.


 

🌆 5:30-7:00 PM – Cityscape Photowalk with Sony Australia [FREE]

Wrap up the day with a guided photowalk through Perth’s city streets. Capture golden hour light, experiment with new techniques, and get hands-on with the latest Sony gear alongside the Sony Australia and the Camera Electronic team.


Some snacks and light refreshments will be provided and the Sony gear table will be open all day!

Come for one session or stay for the day — all skill levels welcome!

What to bring

  • Camera gear – DSLR, mirrorless, or compact camera 
  • Lenses – Bring any you want to experiment with (portrait, wide, telephoto) 
  • Tripod or monopod (optional, useful for video or cityscape session) 
  • Extra batteries & memory cards – You don’t want to run out mid-session 
  • Comfortable shoes & clothing – Especially for the photowalk

Yes! A wide selection of Sony cameras and lenses will be available to borrow on the day.
Some snacks and light refreshments will be provided.
Dress according to the forecast for the day. Sessions will be inside except for the sunset cityscape photowalk.
There is plenty of paid parking available nearby.
The venue is upstairs but there is lift access from Hay Street Mall.
