A Refined Black & White Portrait Workshop- The Refined Portrait Series

SONY x LUCIUS

The Refined Portrait Series is a collaborative program by LUCIUS X SONY, designed for photographers who already understand the fundamentals and are ready to elevate their visual discipline, cultural sensitivity, and post-production consistency.

Rather than focusing on techniques, this series explores the refinement of craft — how light is shaped, how identity is expressed, and how visual coherence is achieved across a body of work.

Over a concentrated series of workshop days, multiple sessions will be delivered within a short timeframe, allowing participants to immerse themselves in a cohesive portrait development journey.

Each workshop focuses on a distinct yet connected stage of portrait creation — from lighting and structure, to cultural narrative, to refined editing and finishing.

This workshop is particularly well suited for photographers who:

  • Feel confident with camera settings but want stronger control of lighting decisions

  • Want their portraits to feel more intentional, structured, and emotionally present

  • Are transitioning from colour-led work into disciplined black & white portraiture

  • Shoot in studio environments and want to refine light shaping rather than add complexity

  • Are seeking a quieter, more deliberate approach to portrait lighting

Designed for photographers seeking greater clarity, control, and a more refined approach to portraiture.

Participants may attend individual sessions or experience the full progression as part of the complete Refined Portrait Series.

Upcoming sessions in this series include:

• Sculpting with Light — A Refined Black & White Portrait Workshop 28th Feb 2026
• Asian Beauty in Focus — A Refined Portrait Workshop 28th Feb 2026
• Refining the Portrait — A Refined Editing Workshop 1th March 2026

• Light, Space & Atmosphere — A Refined Editing Workshop 1th March 2026

Limited seats are available for each session to maintain a focused, studio-based learning environment.
