About the event
Capture the power, speed and excitement of surfing in one of Australia's most unique action photography locations.
Join award-winning photographer and Sony Digital Imaging Advocate, Dylan Giannakopoulos for an exclusive hands-on surf photography experience at URBNSURF Melbourne on Saturday 12th September. Whether you're looking to improve your action photography, refine your autofocus skills or simply experience photographing surfing in a controlled environment, this workshop offers an incredible opportunity to develop your skills.
URBNSURF has restrictions around professional photography gear, but we have been able to gain you exclusive shooting access for this event, allowing you to use interchangeable lens cameras and telephoto lenses to capture incredible surf action.
Unlike photographing in the ocean, URBNSURF delivers consistent waves, allowing you to focus on timing, composition and camera technique. Throughout the session, you'll have opportunities to capture a variety of surf action as it unfolds, with expert guidance provided every step of the way.
Dylan will be on hand throughout the experience to share practical techniques, offer support and help you make the most of the session. With plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive personalised guidance, you'll leave with greater confidence and practical skills that can be applied to all forms of action photography.
A selection of Sony Alpha cameras and E-mount lenses will also be available to loan throughout the workshop (subject to availability), giving participants the opportunity to experience Sony's latest and greatest imaging technology in a real-world action photography environment.

In the event of heavily forecasted rain or a severe weather event, the decision to cancel or postpone the workshop due to weather conditions will be made 24-48 hours prior unless in extraordinary circumstances.
