Join us for an captivating Studio Portrait Builder led by Sony Digital Imaging Advocates Jo Stephan and Jay Evans, where creativity knows no bounds, with our models and sets carefully crafted through a commercial standard creative brief, designed to build your portfolio and develop your confidence and skills in portrait and studio photography.

  • Creative Brief: We have developed a creative brief for our session incorporating a commercial standard plan that we will work together to deliver, with our models and sets designed to help you gather portfolio level imagery using state of the art lighting. 
  • Hands-On Mastery: Immerse yourself in hands-on learning as you develop the professional lighting techniques, with the opportunity to direct models, and capture stunning portraits that will elevate your photography portfolio.
  • Problem-Solving Prowess: Learn and develop your quick-thinking and adaptability as you encounter real-world challenges. Learn how to troubleshoot technical issues, work with unpredictable lighting conditions, and creatively solve problems on the spot—skills that will set you apart as a versatile photographer.

WORKSHOP FEES & TIME FOR PRINT

The workshop fees paid to join this event are going to the cost of renting the studio, and helping out talent travel to/from the event and to help cover costs.

Our Talent and Hair and Make Up Artists (HMUA) are working with us on a Time For Print (TFP) basis, and as such, we request that you provide them with copies of images you capture for their own portfolios and social media (non-commercial). We will be setting up a Dropbox folder where you can drop images for our talent to use after the event. We ask that images captured are used for your portfolio and for your own social media/websites and designs, and not used commercially for stock imagery or license sale without an explicit release signed by the talent/HMUA.

We may have some Sony equipment to loan throughout the session. If there are any specific Sony cameras or lenses you would like to try out, please let us know in advance and we will attempt to ensure we have them available to loan on the day.
No - There will be soft drinks and water available throughout the session.
Dress comfortably. We will be working together in a studio environment, and will be moving around models and sets for the whole afternoon, so be sure to wear comfortable and flexible clothing. As we are working in a studio environment, please ensure you are wearing closed toe shoes (no thongs, sandles or slides please!)
Some paid and timed parking is available in the surrounding streets. We cannot guarantee parking will be available on the day and strongly recommend using public transport (Central Station is a 5 minute walk from The Dale).

Minors are welcome to join when they are accompanied by a paying adult. You must consider that you will be working in an environment with other adult aged photographers. Your tutors are NSW WCC certified.
Yes - The Dale is approximately 5 minutes walk away from Central Station. Due to city parking constraints, Public Transport is the preferred option to get to our location.
