2026 Alpha Awards Photo Competition

Join me for a Vivian Maier inspired photowalk where we will use our digital cameras in an analog way - i.e. no feedback loop and simply looking for street scenes and reflections.
We will have two of these event on the same weekend to accomodate timings.
This event is about sharpening our observational skills. You will be encouraged to be curious, attentive, walk with intention, and shoot within established constraints.
This photowalk is open to digital and analog shooters of all camera systems, but if you shoot with a digital camera you will still take an analog approach. It is about discipline over excess: one focal length, fewer frames, minimal reviewing; to work thoughtfully, trust your eye, and let moments unfold rather than chase them. It's about bringing back intention, quiet observation and the idea that less is more.
By the end of the walk you’ll have sharpened your awareness, developed a stronger sense of timing, and gained a deeper understanding of how subtle, ordinary moments can carry weight when you’re paying attention.
This photowalk isn’t about copying Vivian Maier’s style. It’s about adopting her way of seeing and letting it challenge how you would normally approach your photography.
