About the event
Sony Digital Imaging Advocate Robin Moon discovered photography later in life, after stepping away from a demanding and high-pressure career in search of a slower, more meaningful connection to the world around her. What she found was not just a new path, but a passion — for the camera, for nature, and for storytelling through imagery.
With a deep appreciation for both adventure and authenticity, Robin brings a refreshing perspective to photography. Her journey proves that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself, and that age can be an asset — offering wisdom, curiosity, and the courage to see life through a new lens. She’s passionate about sharing this outlook with others, especially those beginning their own creative journeys.
Robin’s work is filled with lightness and laughter. Whether she’s lying in the dirt, waiting in wild weather, or chasing unpredictable moments with animals, she finds joy in nature’s spontaneity. Wildlife photography, in particular, holds her heart — the humour, surprise, and soul she finds in animals keeps her grounded and inspired. It’s a far cry from her previous life, one that often involved navigating the gravitas of life-and-death decisions — a contrast she fully embraces with a sense of irony and gratitude.
Based in Sydney, Robin is the vice president of the Mosman Camera Club and a committee member of the NSW Federation of Camera Clubs. She’s a frequent speaker, judge, and educator, and works closely with Sony Australia and New Zealand to support photographers of all levels. Her work has been published in leading photography magazines, and alongside her husband Timothy, she runs Wanderlust Imagery — offering photography tours, workshops, and what she calls “excellent adventures.”
