How old do I have to be to attend an event?
You must be at least 13 years old to attend an event. If you are under 18 years of age, your parent/guardian must also have booked a ticket and accompany you for the full duration of the event.
Do I have to be using a Sony camera to attend?
No, you don't need to use a Sony camera, but please check the event page to see what gear you should bring as you may need a camera to enjoy the event
Can I bring a friend to the event?
You're welcome to tell your friends about the event, but they will need to book a ticket to attend as spots are limited.
What happens if I need a refund for a paid event?
Refunds are available when an event has been cancelled, rescheduled to a date you can’t attend, or as otherwise required by the Australian Consumer Law. To apply for a refund, please forward your payment receipt for the event to SonyScene.SANZ@sony.com (Australia) or SonySceneNZ.SANZ@sony.com  (New Zealand), along with the reason for your refund request.
Who can host events through Sony Scene?
In addition to events run directly by Sony, we call our event hosts on Sony Scene, "Advocates". Advocates are carefully selected by Sony for their extraordinary photography skills, brilliant education style, and community leadership. Advocates are reviewed annually.
How can I become an Advocate?
Sony Digital Imaging Advocates are reviewed annually. For more information on the Advocate program, read this article.
How are event hosts on Sony Scene compensated?
Sony Digital Imaging Advocates who host events may be entitled to revenues from ticket sales. In other cases, they may be paid directly by Sony or receive no direct monetary compensation. Sony also provides incentives and non-monetary benefits to Advocates.
Can I register on behalf of someone else?
You may purchase tickets for up to four other attendees. By attending a Sony Scene event, the purchaser and guests agree to be bound to the Terms and Conditions.
Is my ticket transferable?
In most cases, yes - if you have the confirmation email, that is your ticket. Do not forward your order confirmation to anyone except guests that you have purchased tickets for. It is your ticket for admittance to the event, and can only be used for the number of tickets you purchased.

If you want to transfer your ticket to someone else it is recommended you email SonyScene.SANZ@sony.com (Australia) or SonySceneNZ.SANZ@sony.com  (New Zealand) with the name and contact details of the person you are transferring your ticket to so that we can update the guestlist for the event.

There are situations where your tickets are not transferable unless an exception is made:
1) Multi-day events, as your host may need your full information for booking and travel arrangements
2) If the host specifies on the event page that tickets for an event are non-transferable. Please ensure you read event information carefully to see if this applies to the event before you register.
Do I need to print out my order confirmation?
No, we accept digital copies and the event host has a copy of the guestlist. If you don't print your confirmation, it's your responsibility to make sure your phone has enough charge to display it should there be an issues.
I paid a deposit for a multi-day workshop through Sony Scene. How do I complete payment?
For multi-day workshops, we typically take a deposit through Sony Scene and then put you in direct contact with the tour operator to complete payment and receive more detailed information on the tour. Information on the full balance and payment schedule is prominently noted in the event's "About" section.
What does Sony do with my personal information?
We have a comprehensive privacy policy that you can read here. In a nutshell, the personal information you give us through Sony Scene will be used to run Sony Scene and communicate with you. We may share it with event hosts, and possibly third parties they subcontract to (travel operators, etc). We may contact you to tell you about events or Sony-related news (you can opt out of these emails at anytime). We will not share or on-sell your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

There are a few other situations where your information may be used or shared. In rare cases, we may be legally required to share your information. We will use your information in aggregate and without personal details to create statistics to understand and improve the site and our services. We may also use your personal information for internal training purposes. That's about it, but read the full privacy policy for the complete picture.
