I really value the close focusing distance of the FE f4.5-5.6/100-400 GM OSS. It allows me to shoot very small wildlife at close range and fill the frame. This makes it a viable alternative to using macro lenses when the wildlife is not too small.

The beautiful bokeh is one of the draw cards I enjoy when using a full-frame Alpha 7 R Series camera and G Master lens.

Alpha 7R Series cameras provide me with the extra reach or ‘cropability’ to shoot birds in flight when it is not always possible to get closer to my subject.

This image was captured with the FE 400 F/2.8 GM Prime at maximum aperture and shows the effortless AF Tracking afforded by the Sony lenses that have super-fast linear AF motors.

Even at high ISO, the Alpha 7R III is able to capture wildlife that prefers the shadows to the full midday sun.

Animal Eye AF on the Alpha 7R IV combined with the sharpness of the FE 100-400 GM is a killer combination when capturing wildlife.

This image was captured using Animal Eye AF on the Alpha 7R IV. The ultra-shallow depth of filed when using the FE 135 F/1.8 GM at maximum aperture makes this monkey really pop against the background.

The ultra-wide aperture and excellent AF speed of the FE 135 F/1.8 GM allowed me to capture a unique perspective of this wildlife scene.
What's In My Kit
As I often photograph rapidly moving subjects, both the Alpha 9 and Alpha 9 II are my choice to ensure fast and 'super-sticky tracking' at up to 20 frames per second with blackout-free panning. The stacked sensors used by the A9 cameras puts them into a unique performance category that cannot be found in any other interchangeable lens camera.

The ultra high-resolution Alpha 7R IV gives me the freedom to make prints up to two-metres wide and has jaw dropping dynamic range (I've given up bracketing since owning this camera). The Alpha 7R IV also gives me 'cropability' - the ability to crop really aggressively in post or shoot 26 Megapixel images in APS-C mode, giving me the extra reach on my telephoto zooms.

Although I use Sony's excellent telephoto zoom lenses to capture much of my wildlife and action photos, my favourite lenses are Sony's telephoto primes. The FE 135 F/1.8 GM is perhaps the perfect partner for much of what I choose to capture. I mostly shoot with the aperture wide open when using this lens to provide excellent figure/ground separation and stunningly beautiful bokeh. The lens is equipped with lightening fast AF so can even turn its hand to shooting moving wildlife at close range.

When using the Alpha 9 with longer telephoto zooms you will always find the 1.4x Teleconverter in my camera bag and the grip extension screwed onto the base of the Alpha 9. The grip extension gives me a confidence-inspiring hold on the camera (no little finger waving in the breeze) and doesn't add the extra weight of the vertical grip. It takes just five seconds to clear the grip out of the way to replace a battery.
