About the event

Come and Join Sony Advocate Jay Evans, on our Creative Flow Pro online digital coaching sessions as he guides you around the industry professional tools, tips and tricks you would use to edit your images. This online workshop focuses on Adobe Photoshop 2024 (v25.0), including the new Generative AI features, with a start to finish approach to using the powerful tools Photoshop offers photographers to edit landscape images, specifically designed to empower you with the knowlede and skills to enhance your editing workflows.

No matter what type of photography you focus on, this session will lift your photography journey with you mastering Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw, Layers & Smart Objects, Adjustment Layers, Retouching and Selections and Masking. We will also look into the new Generative AI features availale in Photoshop 2024.

For beginners, this will give you a thourough inroduction to Adobe Photoshop and image editing techniques. Even for the more seasoned amateaurs and professionals, this will help to reform your workflows with modern updates and tools in mind, ensuring you experience ease in maximising your images for the purpose you desire.

In this session, we will cover:

  • Vision and Inspiration: we delve into some tenets of developing your vision for your images from capture to editing, preparing you with the inspiration to unleash your creativity and achieve the results you are seeking.
  • Introduction to Adobe Photoshop (2024): Learn how Adobe Photoshop sits within the Creative Cloud suite of products and how it integrates with Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Bridge. We will work through the User Interface and work through some important performance tips
  • Layers & Smart Objects - The Real Power: Unravel the power of Photoshop's layer system, effectively organising and manipulating elements within your images, providing a means of non-destructive editing, blending and opacity, coupled with Smart Objects demonstrating how to preserve image quality.
  • Creating the Image: In the base processes of Adobe Photoshop, we will Create our image, harnessing the power of Adobe Camera Raw to perfect image colour and tone, before applying simple retouching processes to clean up the image. We will look at how powerful filters and plugins such as NIK and Topaz can be used to bring your images to life, and finally examining the use of the new Generative AI features, leveraging cutting-edge technology to bring artistic elements and creativity into your composition. 
  • Selections & Masking: Master the precision of selection and masking, learning how to create and refine selections with Photoshops powerful suite of selection tools, perfecting the art of masking to conceal and reveal, create deep etched objects, tackling complex subjects and outlines and crafting unique visual effects. 
  • Adjustment Layers: Discover precision in image enhancement as we delve into the art of dodging and burning with Adjustment Layers, Curves, Levels, Saturation, Contrast and Solid Colour. Learn how to sculpt light, shadow and colour, bringing depth and dimension to your images.
  • FInishing the Image: As we get ourselves ready to publish our images, we will look closely at the finishing processes of removing artefacts, cropping, resizing, vignetting and sharpening, with a view of both digital publication, social media, competitions and printing.
  • Saving & Publishing: We will finish our session looking at how to Save your images in formats needed for clients, social media and other uses, and look closely at reintegrating your images with your Lightroom Classic libraries.

JOIN US USING MICROSOFT TEAMS

This session will be held online using Microsoft Teams. You don't need an Office 365 account to access this session, just download the Microsoft teams client from  https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-teams/free You don't need a webcam or microphone to join but a supported computer or device with working Audio (speakers, headphones etc.) will be essential.

Please Note - Due to this being a free event, and to prevent any later Privacy concerns, we will be unable to record this session. You must attend the event online to view the workshop content.

 

COME PREPARED WITH ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

During the session, we will focus on the Industry Leading Photo Editing toolset, Adobe Photoshop and Creative Cloud. To make the most of this coaching and training session, we recommend you have the latest version of Adobe Photoshop installed on a computer, PC or Mac, that you can reference during the session (recommended to install Photoshop 2024 to take advantage of the Generative AI features). You can download a free 7 Day trial version of Lightroom Classic via the Adobe website at  https://www.adobe.com/au/products/photoshop/free-trial-download.html (free trial requires a credit card to subscribe to a monthly plan and we recommend you taking up the Photography plan at AUD14.29 per month. The plan can be cancelled at no charge before your 7 day trial expires).

  • Your note taking device (pen & paper).
  • An interest in uncovering the toolsets and workflows to edit your images for success.

Your presenter, Jay Evans, has been a Sony Digital Imaging Advocate since the program began in 2018. He has been a professional photographer for 15 years with photography experience spanning back to the film era. Today focused on education, coaching, mentoring and guiding guests and clients through Landscape, Nature, Astro and Commercial photography, Jay has hosted over 300 happy clients on workshops, tours and training. With a background in IT consultancy, process management and IT Training, Jay is known to be an excellent teacher of software products, and will easily pass on the knowledge you need to develop your editing and publishing workflows using widely available industry standard tools.
