Learn to capture and edit an astro panorama

About the event

Have you mastered the basics of astrophotography but want to take your night shots to the next level?

Spend a night under the stars with Meghan Maloney and learn how to capture and edit an astro panorama. We will spend 2 hours in the field learning how to capture a multi-row panoramic image of the stars which we will then edit online in a separate session.

Saturday, 31 August| 10.00PM - 11.30PM

We'll spend approximately 3 hours on location in Arapuni (1 hour to set up and 2 hours to shoot your astro panorama) on Saturday evening.

Please Note: Sunday 1 September is the back up date in place in case of bad weather, so please make sure you can attend both nights if you book this event as there will be no refunds given if you are unable to attend the rescheduled evening. In the event both evenings are unsuitable a refund for 1/2 the workshop will be available, as the online editing session will still proceed.

Monday, 2 September | 7:30pm - 9:30pm

This will be followed up by an online editing session via Zoom on Monday evening, to show you how to merge your astro panoramas and edit them in Lightroom and Photoshop.

You don't need a Sony camera to attend this event, but a selection of Sony cameras and lenses may be available to try during the evening. Please message me at least 3 weeks before the event if there is anything specific you would like to try so I can organise a loan.

  • The equipment needed to successfully shoot an astro panorama
  • The best settings to use
  • Getting your composition and focus right
  • How to merge and edit your image in Lightroom and Photoshop

  • For the editing component via Zoom: computer with Lightroom installed
