A community event for women in action sports and outdoor media

About the event

Depth of Field is a weekend gathering bringing together women from across the action sports and outdoor media world.

This isn’t just another industry event - it’s a chance to genuinely connect, learn, and grow. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started, you’ll walk away inspired, informed, and plugged into a supportive community of like-minded photographers, filmmakers, athletes, and storytellers.

Come along to hear real stories from people doing the work - not just the highlight reels. Learn how they got started, what challenges they faced, and how they’ve carved out their paths in the creative and sports industries. You’ll also get the inside scoop on working with brands, events, and media from the people hiring creatives right now.

Plus, the weekend is designed to be relaxed, collaborative, and fun - think good food, chill hangs, and plenty of space to meet rad people.

Event schedule

Friday Evening - 6:30pm to 8:00pm

We will have casual drinks at Sherwood. This is an low-key hang out, so come along to meet some likeminded people.

Saturday - 9:00am to 5.30pm (lunch included)

We’ll kick off the day with two incredible speakers. First up, Alicia Lovrich shares how she got started in sports photography and her experience shooting at the Paris Olympics. Then we hear from Sophie, a world-class athlete turned event manager, who’ll give us insight into working with media from the other side, drawing on her experience running the NZ Winter Games and Natural Selection MTB tour.

After a delicious lunch by the Sherwood chefs, we’ll dive into an open panel discussion featuring a mix of filmmakers and photographers. Expect a collaborative conversation covering industry insights, with plenty of time for questions and real talk.

Throughout the day, we’ll also be highlighting some exciting gear and product drops.

Sunday Morning - 8:30am to 1:00pm

This will be a hands-on workshop, so bring your camera!
