Scene Festival 2026 🎉
Understand colour and how to get it right

About the event

This workshop is for anyone who wants to take control of colour in their images.

Take command of  your printing – whether in colour or in black-and-white. And the workshop's for all who care what their images look like on the internet.

We have all been there. Your beautiful landscape comes out dull. Your portrait turns out too orange. Colours in your prints look too strong. And what are those weird tints in your black-and-white prints?

Perhaps you can’t call yourself a photographer until you’ve torn your hair – or your prints – in frustration with print colours and tonality!

In this workshop, I’ll show you that colour management is mostly about expectation management. There’s much you can do to make images look great. But there are limits, and it’s really worth learning what they are. That can save you hours of going around in circles.

I'll teach you enough to understand what colour is about without getting too technical. I will lay ground so you can build your own understanding in your own time. In the end, you will get practical strategies and solutions that you can use in your own set-up.

Join me if you’re interested any of these topics:

  • How to make prints reliably
  • Creating a minimal effort method model
  • How to colour match
  • What is colour perception?
  • What is colour capture?
  • What is colour reproduction?

Bring your own images and prints for discussion: learning from each other is a great way to gain confidence,
