Online session exploring flower editing & foreground composition techniques

About the event

Join Luke Tscharke for a free, interactive online editing session focused on wildflower photography. This hour-long Zoom session offers a behind-the-scenes look at my editing process as I work on previously unseen photos of Tasmanian wildflowers, showing you how to handle both close-up details and wider landscape compositions that incorporate flowering subjects.

This is not a structured tutorial, but rather a live, freestyle editing session. I'll be working with images in real-time, making decisions on the spot. We'll cover techniques like focus stacking, managing depth of field, and balancing foreground details with background elements, giving you insight into a genuine editing workflow.

The session is designed to be casual, friendly, and relaxed. You're welcome to simply watch and listen, or actively participate by asking questions throughout the edit. Even if you don't photograph wildflowers yourself, it's still worth tuning in to learn about managing foreground elements in landscape photography. You can always apply these techniques to other images. At the end of the session, we'll have a brief Q&A to address any additional queries.

I'll be demonstrating my workflow using various tools, including Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, as well as discussing focus stacking techniques and additional software I use to enhance close-up images. You'll see how I handle colour accuracy for delicate flower tones and prepare photos for both printing and social media sharing. While some familiarity with photo editing software would be beneficial, all skill levels are welcome to join and learn.

This session is open to all photographers, regardless of the camera brand you use. Whether you're new to editing or looking to refine your skills with close-up subjects, you'll have the opportunity to pick up tips and techniques that you can apply to your own workflow.
