Illuminate Adelaide Photo Walk

Join Diamonds Camera and Sony Advocate Will Godward for a relaxed evening photo walk through the spectacular installations of Illuminate Adelaide 2026.

Meeting at Diamonds Camera, we will make our way through the Adelaide CBD, exploring illuminated buildings, laneways, projections and public spaces transformed into a vibrant nocturnal playground of colour, imagination and light.

This event is ideal for anyone who currently uses Sony equipment, is considering moving to the Sony system, or simply wants to enjoy photographing Illuminate Adelaide with a group of like-minded photographers.

A full range of Sony camera bodies and lenses will be available to borrow during the event, providing a great opportunity to test and experience some of Sony’s latest equipment in real-world low-light conditions.

The evening is intended to be a casual and social photo walk rather than a formal workshop. However, guidance will be available throughout the walk, including suggestions for compositions, camera settings and creative ways to interact with the installations.

We will also discuss some of the challenges involved in photographing city lights and illuminated installations, including:

* Managing the wide dynamic range between bright highlights and deep shadows

* Selecting suitable shutter speeds, apertures and ISO settings

* Maintaining detail and colour in illuminated displays

* Creating strong compositions within busy city environments

* Photographing people creatively amongst the lights

* Experimenting with movement, reflections and light painting techniques

This is a two-hour session with plenty of time built in for walking, talking, testing equipment and capturing images.

• Bring your own camera, a fully charged battery and an empty memory card. A tripod may be useful for some scenes, although the walk will also focus on handheld low-light photography. 
•  Sony loan equipment will be available in limited quantities and will be shared among participants throughout the evening.
