An informal photography walk around one of Marlborough's birding hotspots

About the event

Join me for a free bird photography walk through the Wairau Lagoons, a coastal wetland complex just south of Blenheim where around 70 bird species have been recorded. September should be a great time to visit, with godwits and other migratory waders starting to arrive back from the northern hemisphere.

We'll walk the flat ~8 km loop track at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops as subjects present themselves. Bring the longest lens you have — and I'll try to have some Sony loan gear along for you to use on the walk. If you'd like to try a new camera, bring an SD card so you can easily take your shots home.

  • Waterproof footwear, in case it's muddy underfoot n places
